Unsightly fencing

Posted in: Oakforge Communities-Lakes - Woods
Portions of the fencing that is viewed as a driver enters 59th St. from Georgetown Road concerns me. In 2005 or so, I recall that all Oakforge homeowners were asked to pay $75 to have some wood replaced on the fencing that surrounds the community. This was asked of all homeowners, not just Lakes residents. As a Woods resident, I questioned this, but I paid it. I would surmise that everyone did not pay it, but hopefully enough did. Was that wood replacement project on the fencing ever completed? If it was, why so much disrepair in that one section now? Is there anything that can be done about this problem? The gaps in the fencing gives that section a low-class appearance, which I believe will only get worse, if it is not addressed. I've been wondering if any other resident is bothered by this fence issue.

A Little More Information

Thanks for your question, as I understand it the section of fencing you refer to is actually owned by the homeowners rather than the community and is therefore their obligation to keep up to our standards. We are currently working with Affordable HOA to come to a happy medium with the actual homeowners in the repair of the fencing, offering what we might find in the form of a discount for fence repair etc..I will direct your question to our representative with Affordable (Cindy Dean) and have her contact you for further information. Again, thanks for your concerns, we have openings on the board if you would like to become even more involved, mostly by e-mail (votes and all) and maybe meet 3 to 4 times a year including the annual meeting. If you are a home owner and would like to discuss the opportunities, please contact me, thanks, JBD

information on fences

As John stated in his email, the section you are referring to is owned by individual homeowners and are being addressed seperately. Today is the drive-thru by our coordinator, and I have advised her to take pictures of these fences to better address the homeowner of the maintenance violation. After certain steps are taken by our office and if the homeowner still does not come in to compliance by repairing or replacing their fence, then it is asked of the Board of Director's (BOD) to make the decision if they want to turn it over to the Attorney to contact them and file a suit if necessary. If you would like further information, please fill free to contact me at my office at 885-7462 ext 233 or email cindyd@affordablehoa.com. Thank you!
fence

Yes, I am too. I think that the portion that you're talking about is a resident's fence and unfortunately the residents have declared bankruptcy and the house is empty. I will check on this but I think the assoc. should fix it or tear it down. It looks bad.
the $75 has been used to put up new posts along the community owned portion of the fence and to repair the fence as needed.
