For the first time in nearly two decades Iroquois Park was dark at Christmas time. The annual event, the dream of Alderman Beverly Bebe Melton, touched the lives of many excited children, moms and dads and grandparents who made the journey to the top of the hill each December. While in the enchanting forest of Iroquois, Santa sat in the lodge to hear the dreams and wishes of children while families gathered under the big tent to sing carols, eat cookies and sip hot chocolate.
The Iroquois Civic Club & Neighborhood Association is leading an effort to rekindle the joyous lights of Winterfest once again. To begin, we want to know your recollections both young and not so young alike; the years you attended any photos you can share. A planning committee is now in the works and we cannot move forward withoout your support. To begin, your memories, suggestions and photos are welcomed.
