The answer is ''YOU.'' You should care enough to be a player in your neighborhood association. You, plus your neighbors, lose when apathy rules. An example: on Saturday August 24, about three miles from our Hogan Area neighborhood there was a free seminar at FCCJ for citizens to learn how to protect themselves and their neighbors, the city, the country, from those who would do us harm. Free lunch and instruction by foremost officials and police agencies staff made the event worth anyone's participation well worth the time. Participation? Of the roughly 800,000 citizens of Duval county only 81 showed up. In a city with crime, scofflaws, reluctant cooperation with police, and a likely target for terrorist attacks on military targets, only 0.0001% showed up. Now figure WE, the people, collectively have the task of preserving our society and the freedoms for which our fellow citizens died. What priority in our lives should we give to learn what we can do to get the job done? Next time you get a chance to participate, don't walk, RUN! get in line and be a part of the solution.
WHO CARES? WHO LOSES?
