Green it up!

Make it happen
Through the Clean It Up, Green It Up campaign started in 1996, residents work as partners with the city on projects to beautify their neighborhoods by cleaning up litter and planting trees. Mayor John Delaney challenged the community to plant more than one million trees in the first five years of the campaign. At the completion of the first year, more than 173,000 trees had been planted citywide by residents, businesses, neighborhoods, community organizations and agencies.
This community-wide challenge includes three primary components:

1. Neighborhood Component -- We encourage neighborhood groups to come up with beautification initiatives for their own areas.

2. Flowering Tree Program -- The Mayor is encouraging the community-wide planting of specific flowering trees selected for their adaptability to differing conditions here in Duval County.

3. Corridor and Entryway Plantings -- We are constantly looking for sponsors interested in providing funding for the planting of major entranceways into our community.
