KEEP PETS FENCED IN OR LOCKED UP

Posted in: Jefferson Cort

Fellow residents, our family cat was killed today by a pack of dogs in our own back yard. These dogs were not stray vicious dogs, but probably one of our neighbors family pets.  As any pet owner would know, when you lose a pet it's like losing a family member. To prevent this from happening to another family, please keep your pets locked up or fenced in. Be aware that if dogs continue to stray, matters may be taken into the property owners hands.

Can I get an Amen? It is most frustrating to take a walk or bike ride around the subdivision to be chased by someone's dog. It can cause panic especially with children.

Consequently, I have stopped walking around the neighborhood because I am tired of dogs running up to me. You have no clue if they are going to be aggressive or not.

The owners should be cited and fined.

I agree with both of you. All residents of Jefferson Cort need to be aware that Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control enforces local animal control ordinances and other Laws pertaining to animals.

Refer to their website:

and read number 2.

This means that if your pet leaves your property, it needs to be on a leash.

You should not have to stop walking around Jefferson Cort because of someone's pets. If this is happening, you need to call Animal Control and report the owners who aren't following our animal control laws.

It is also stated in the J.C. restrictions that pets should not become a problem to other residents of the neighborhood.
