This was not an abduction attempt. This was an older man with Alzheimer's who took his son's truck and stopped to offer the boy a ride. The boy did wisely run in the house and tell his parents. The Sheriffs office was called and did catch up with the man.
Unfortunately what did happen was residents calling each other with 1/2 the story causing panic. Nobody called a JCCA rep until hours into the event at which time we disbatched patrols AND called the Sheriff's office for verification.
JCCA did address this in a newsletter and at the meeting (which VERY few residents attended.) However since we still do not have the majority of the residents emails a rapid warning was / is impossible. We are still encouraging residents to give us email address so that we can address issues like this immediately.
If the residents of Jefferson Cort want a cohesive Associaiton that can respond quickly the RESIDENTS must be willing to communicate.
