Has anyone seen the posting on the mailbox? It says as of 12/02/05 we will no longer have the mailbox down here and we will have to take our mail to the box on 35th and St. Paul.

In calling our local post office on Vliet Street regarding the removal, we were told it was due to budget cuts and that the box is used very little if at all anymore to warrant pick ups. Its a shame that the things that contribute to this being the neighborhood it is keep disappearing...a newspaper box, the Route 13 bus and now the Postal Box. By VPCA |

Regarding removal of the mailbox: There is a US Postal Service Customer Relations Person named Gina Shaw at 414-287-1999 who is fielding calls on this issue. We STRONGLY urge as many neighbors as possible to call an protest the removal of the mailbox. You may want to stress the greatest hardship will be on the elderly, disabled, etc. who have already lost their County bus service, for some their only way out of the neighborhood. By VPCA |
