To enhance the livability of the neighborhood by establishing and maintaining an open line of communications and liaison among the neighborhood, the City of Dallas, other government agencies, other neighborhoods, community groups, associations and organizations.
To provide an open process by which all residents of the neighborhood may involve themselves in the affairs of, to represent and to advance the interests of our community.
To promote, encourage and improve the safety of the neighborhood through not only the Crime Watch program coordinated with the SW Division of the Dallas Police Department, but also continual educational programs, platforms and meeting topics for all residents. Monthly meetings of the Group shall include Crime Watch information not limited to neighborhood crime stats, but also allowing an open forum for residents to discuss or express concerns. This also includes sponsoring or participating in the community's National Night Out Against Crime.
To encourage and promote the improvement, beautification, identity and integrity of the neighborhood through Code Compliance education, community cooperation, communications and Group projects that shall be defined in the Standing Rules.
To determine the needs and goals of the neighborhood and to promote undertakings to satisfy such needs and achieve such goals. This shall include, but not be limited to restoration, re-establishing or renewing important historic or otherwise important areas within our neighborhood community, which shall include Kiest Park, our neighborhood community park.
Re-establish, restore and expand the "Kiest Park Memorial Tree Groves" in the Northwest section of Kiest Park at Hampton Road and Perryton Drive. This shall be an ongoing continuous program and may include other areas of Kiest Park, as determined with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department and/or the Dallas Park Board. The initial Memorial Tree Groves to be part of this program shall be two: (1) "Sterling Price Camp, UCV" and (2) "Texas Historic Tree Planting Association", both originally located in the NW section of Kiest Park. It shall include replacing missing trees with guidance of the City Forester and through City reforestation progams, which can provide free trees for this undertaking. Refurbish and/or replace existing or missing bronze dedication plaques at each Memorial tree. Establish new areas of tree plantings in this same section of Kiest Park for an ongoing Memorial Tree planting and dedication Grove for use as a place of remembrance for, but not limited to, Oak Cliff or City of Dallas families, dedications to prominent citizens of the City of Dallas, the State of Texas, the United States of America, or any division of the United States military. New plantings or dedications shall be set forth by a nomination, a suggestion or a request to the Group, a Committee Chairperson, a Director or an Officer for such. Donations to cover a dedication plaque(s), planting or other expense related to such shall be accepted from a family, group, association, organization or business and shall only be applied to such item. This ongoing project may include coordination with other Oak Cliff civic organizations or community groups for proper implementation and completion.
