When is the neighborhood association going to address the important issue of the proposed property and sales tax increase? Many residents in this neighborhood will see 50% or greater increases, while much of the city will have less than 25% increases. Isn't this an issue that most Kenner residents can agree upon, and that we can let our councilman know the stance of the neighborhood. There are a lot of retirees in this neighborhood on fixed incomes. How can they afford a proposed increase greater than 50%(assumes a 30% valuation increase, a 20-25% rate increase and a 1/2%increase in sales tax). Inflation is only running 2.5 to 3.0 %. Davidson County's population isn't increasing, so why can't the City manage their expenses better? Businesses don't tolerate that magnitude of expense growth. More money doesn't solve inept practises.
