''junk day''

Good point

I agree with Rob. Further, I think the council should add back the junk day. Or, at least, query the community about our feelings on the matter.

After reading the July council minutes, perhaps some of the money we're saving from not using city hall - or apparently furnishing it - could be used to pay for said junk day.

I must also add that I was extremely disappointed after reading some of the council member's behavior. I particularly did not like that the mayor got angry, slammed his fist down and when he came back, apologized by saying, ''This woman gets under my skin.''

First, that strikes me as sexist in connotation. What does her sex have to do with his irritation? Nothing - but the statement reveals that he somehow connects the two.

Second, such behavior is simply unacceptable from a community representative.

Garbage Disposal & Junk Pickup

In the proposal I.D. gave the council members at our meeting, they mentioned oil prices, fuel & other petroleum products, diesel fuel, lubricants, disposal cost, gate rate ar $45 per ton which is up $8 from 2000, replacement parts, labor cost and a manufacture surcharge behind the rising cost to pick up our cities garbage.

I am sure several residents are going to miss the second junk day pickup, but I.D. is giving our residents a option to pick up junk during the year.

I feel that our council is trying to keep cost down so as not to have to raise taxes.

If you would like to look at the proposal that I.D. gave the council you may call or email and we can arrange a meeting and I will show you the proposal.
Sorry!!! I asked!!!

I did not mean to start WW3 ,All I wanted to know was when the next junk day was, someone could have just said we no longer have one, then left it alone, but instead someone has to make a issue out of this Too.This site is turning in to a free for all.Is the cup 1/2 full or 1/2 empty that should keep some of you busy for a while!!!!

Thanks

Thanks for the response Mr. Langford. I think the council certainly did the prudent thing in opting for the one large item per week option (when called)rather than two junk days a year. I appreciate your thoughfulness and diligence.
