Recent Accomplishments

Over the last ten years I have acted as the president of the homeowner's association we have accomplished many improvements within the area of King's Point. Here are just a few accomplishments performed within the last year. Some of these took nearly two years to finally get approval from county and other resources.

1. We negotiated for the recently installed disability ramps for the sidewalks at the intersections within the KP area.

2. Pot holes and road damage have been reported and repaired.

3. We have reported, and most of the vision restricting bushes and trees have been trimmed or removed. This has been an emotional issue with some parents as their elementary school children walk to and from Peabody. The last issue that was a complaint is about the trees at the intersection of E. Fair Place and S. Adams Drive. The county has given notice to the homeowner and the tree is scheduled to be removed to help improve the vision restriction. The blocked street light will now be visible at that intersection. Thanks again to the parents and homeowners that brought this issue to my attention.

4. The cement cross-pans that direct the gutter water from one side of the street to the other will be repaired and replaced. This item was expensive and the county will schedule this task for the future.

5. We had new stop bars painted on the street at every stop sign within the KP area.

6. The alleyway at the eastern side of the KP area continues to be a problem. We continue to complain about the weeds, and high speed traffic along what is legally known as "Old Colorado Blvd". We will continue to monitor the alley and we have requested stop signs and posted speed limits. The sheriff's department has been advised of the traffic problems.

7. We have requested a sidewalk along E. Caley between S. Jackson and S. Steele (across from the cemetary). This would be a great addition for the pedestrians and middle schoolers. There currently is no sidewalk in that area and the people walk in the gutter or on the dirt.

8. A new storm water sewer inlet near the north intersection of S. Jackson and S. Harrison Drive has been approved. This future construction will help eliminate the flooding at the intersection as well as the winter ice build up at that location.
