Hello all,

Here is a message from one of our residents regarding a suspicious vehicle - please be aware and feel free to pass along to those along your block:

We happened to both be home today and we thought there was some suspicious activity considering all the thefts in Warlfeigh.  Second time within 1/2 hour I saw a maroon late 90's minivan drive by our house.  Backed up into our driveway and then moved down the block.  Two guys got out of the van, one went over to the house at the corner Delaware and Riverview.  The other guy got of the car and knocked at the door of the house on Riverview (one if from Delaware).  I walked outside and looked at the guy and he said "was wondering if this guy wanted his yard mowed?"  I said, no those guys work on their yard themselves.  So immediately they both got in the car and left.  I was unable to see the license plate, it almost looked like it had some kind of plastic on it?

Moira Dugan has led the charge to form a playgroup (or multiple ones) in the neighborhood.  If you have young children and would like to participate, please contact her at moira_dugan@yahoo.com and let her know if you have a preferred weekday or time, or with any other ideas.  Block leaders may wish to forward this information to those on their street whom they know have children.

The same committee is still in search of babysitter recommendations in the area.  If you know of anyone who might be interested please contact Moira at the above e-mail or me at LuskandLusk@sbcglobal.net.

Warfleigh neighborhood directories are sold out.

We have a meeting next Monday, May 5, at 6:30 PM in St. Paul's Lilly room.  If you have anything you'd like to add to the agenda please let me know.  Right now I have a list of possible committees to implement, plus reports from current committees.  Would anyone be willing to provide a BRVA report?

Hope everyone is well, and stay safe.

Hello Warfleigh residents,

A few notes of interest for all neighbors.  This message is being sent to those who have expressed interest in Warfleigh news - please feel free to pass along to others in the neighborhood and if someone not on the list would like to be included please let me know.

It's very important to remember that with the warmer weather, we need to take additional precautions.  Lawn mowers and bicycles left outside are at risk.  You should also remember to be aware of open car windows and open home windows.  Always lock car doors (with the windows shut ideally!) and lock garages.  If possible you may wish to use a chain & lock on grills or other outdoor items that are of value.  Anything to deter thieves will help.

It's also crucial to remember to contact 911 if you see anything suspicious in the neighborhood.  If the same handful of individuals contact the police each time, it can be perceived as the boy who cried wolf to law enforcement.  Instead, if each of us takes charge and notices what is happening in our neighborhood there is a greater chance that we will receive a fast response each time which might even result in more police patrols in the area.

For anyone interested in participating in a Warfleigh playgroup, please contact moira dugan [moira_dugan@yahoo.com].

Any residents interested in joining the Broad Ripple Conservation Discussion group should contact Chris Carlson at ccarlson@butler.edu

Jenny Hicks (6497 Broadway) will be having a garage sale on May 31.  If anyone in the neighborhood would like to have one at the same time to garner more visitors, please let Jenny know [swimmingfly@sbcglobal.net], and please spread the word of the yard sales in Warfleigh that day.  If you have a few items you'd like to sell contact Jenny as well and you may be able to piggy back.

There is a missing cat, last seen on Sunday April 27th, missing from the 5100 block of Central, but he could have wondered a few blocks.  Caesar is a med/large black & white cat with very symmetrical marking on his face, around 2 years old.  He is not wearing a collar, but he is microchipped (w/contact info up-to-date) and neutered.  He is very friendly (probably too friendly), the owners are guessing he wandered into someone's home and acted like he owned the place.

Friday, May 9, the spring gallery tour in Broad Ripple will be held from 5-9 PM.  Approximately 18 shops will be open for the event.

The Broad Ripple Farmer's Market is back.  Again being held behind the Broad Ripple High School, the vendors are open from 8 AM - noon.  Some new vendors this year include Backyard Birds (edible products for wild birds & mammals), Balanced Harvest (heirloom produce), Bridgeton Mill (whole grain cornmeal, flours and mixes), Changing Seasons (annual plants, baskets, planters), Country Mouse City Mouse (sauces, salsas, spreads and dressings), Joseph Decuis (gourmet foods), Skillington Farms (poultry and eggs), Izzy & Grey's Gourmet Baby Foods, and Daina's Petite Pies.

Have a safe May everyone,
