I will be a new Lake Eola Heights resident very shortly, as a new owner of an historic home on Amelia. I would love an architect that is very familiar with the area to help me remodel and restore my new home. Thanks!

Hello...and welcome to the hood!...I would start by contacting Jodi Rubin. She used to the point person for the city of Orlando when it came to historic preservation...she owns a company called CCS Restoration. They can handle window replacements...door replacements...and small restoration projects. I have found that it is easier to act as my own GC and sub out jobs as necessary to vendors that I trust and get referrals to along the way. If you need a good architect I would start with Jodi and go with her referral. She is a nice lady and has a ton of knowledge when it comes to Lake Eola Heights neighborhood.

I agree that Jodi is a wonderful person to start with - she really enjoys what she does and is very knowledgeable because of that. To take it a step further, if you're interested in contacting the City's current Historic Preservation Officer, which is what Jodi used to do at the City, his name is Richard Forbes and he can be reached at either 407-246-3350 or richard.forbes@cityoforlando.net
