I think for the first time, I really enjoyed our City Commission Meeting! I thank Mayor Clemens for getting through the non-challenging items so quickly but having the wisdom to slow down on the items he knew would draw public participation.
His resolve in tonight's meeting was awesome and I personally thank him.....with that being said LOL.....
There was a three page agenda tonight but our commissioners managed to get through every thing quickly and efficiently and I commend them all. It seemed that the desires of the citizens are being heard and felt, the financial stability of the city is now a great concern and being dealt with AND our new City Manager, Susan Stanton, has "hit the ground running" as Mayor Clemens put it, and doing a very fine job. I also would like to give thanks and gratitude to our legal counsel Elaine Humpreis who did an excellent job of balancing what is legal versus what the council needs to focus on.
Our new city staff members do have a lot to catch up on as in the case with Elaine just catching up from her predecessor. But we at ROLOH have confidence that the end results are citizen being listened to and local government being responsive to our needs, our goals and our need to be financially sound as a city.
