NATIONAL NIGHT OUT – 2007

Jan 03, 2008

MANY of us enjoyed the very successful and fun National Night Out Picnic on August 7th, co-hosted by LHNA and neighborhood associations for Lower Greenville and Lower Greenville West.

City officials reported that our event was the largest crowd and exhibition for any National Night Out event in the city !!

All our police friends from the Central & North Central police stations and our fire rescue friends from Station 17 were on hand with their squads, equipment, equestrian and canine units for this event that essentially thanks THEM for all they do for us, while putting the spotlight on crime prevention in our neighborhoods!! It was a wonderful evening of activities, exhibitors including many City of Dallas departments, Mix 102.9, Friends of Tietze Park Foundation, For the Love of the Lake, local schools and their PTA groups, Carter Blood Care, awesome face painters, self defense demonstrations, and many other non-profit organizations and vendors. All our neighborhood Crime Watch groups were there to provide vital info to everyone. Many thanks to our sponsors Whole Foods Market was on hand to provide ice cold drinks, Lakewood United Methodist Church kept us in ice all night, Skillman Church of Christ provided ice cream, and Albertson?’s in Hillside grilled hotdogs all night long! Be sure to thank them ALL the next time you visit them! Barbara Koegl and Beverly Frasier braved the heat all night at the cotton candy machine ?– THANK YOU BOTH ! The event was enjoyed as well by City Council member Angela Hunt, State Rep. Allen Vaught and his family, and reps from the office of State Rep. Dan Branch. Many, many area businesses provided an exhausting collection of incredible raffle items ?– so lots of folks went home with a prize ?– including one with a $200 gift certificate from Times Ten Cellars!! And, finally, many of YOUR Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association officers and members helped provide great info to you at our LHNA table!! HERE?’S A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL the neighbors who worked several months to plan this big night, to set it up, run the show, and clean it all up after the great party!! It ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT have happened without all the big and small efforts offered by so many of YOUR neighbors!!
