I am very happy to report that we again have a Crime Watch Committee Chairperson- Joe Darlak of 6219 Palo Pinto (214-887-6180) recently volunteered to take the lead in this very important role in our neighborhood. Joe’s involvement comes at a very important time: there have been recent reports of increased car break-ins – particularly at Tietze Park - and robberies within and near Lakewood Hts boundaries. One such alert came when a neighbor across Abrams and another in a local church parking lot were both attacked by a small-framed African American man. A man with a similar description also knocked on neighbors’ doors at all hours of the day (especially very early), claiming various stories to obtain money from kind souls. Always be aware of your surroundings and suspicious activities at all times. DO NOT OPEN YOUR FRONT DOOR FOR STRANGERS-no matter how gentle they may seem! Talk through locked doors. If they insist on you opening the door, call 911. Call also to report seeing this man or any other suspicious persons or cars.
Carry a cell phone while in the neighborhood for any potential emergency purposes. Let LHNA know of any crime alerts: email to mv.bk@tx.rr.com so that we can let everyone know of important issues. Join LHNA to get on the email list.
We are very fortunate that serious crime is not a frequent issue in Lakewood Heights, but this is in LARGE amount due to the fact that we are a very active, concerned neighborhood. We fill our streets frequently with joggers, walkers, and parents with baby strollers – increasing the eyes of surveillance. We KNOW and care about each other! We are concerned about our neighborhood and we call 911 to report suspicious activity! Are you one of these helpful neighbors? LHNA sends out Crime Watch Alert emails about crime concerns. We have an excellent relationship with our local City Council rep, Angela Hunt, and our police liaison, Officer Keith Allen, who respond to issues as they arise. And LHNA also continues to focus on fun events that bring us together to ensure all these great attributes grow - to help ensure our safety and well-being. Please be an active participant in neighborhood events – LHNA membership supports this newsletter and events like National Night Out Picnic and Annual Summer LHNA Meetings. Both occasions will bring you very important information and provide yet more opportunities to KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS
