HISTORY OF LEYDEN CREEK
The Leyden Creek Community Group formed in 1998 with the purpose of:
* protecting the rural character of the area
* identifying tools for maintaining and enhancing varied rural lifestyles
* working together on common interestes such as trails,
equestrian and agricultural uses, growth impacts, etc.
Projects the Community Group have and continue to work on include:
* mitigating impacts upon the neighborhoods by the new high school
* exploring options for Ward Road alignment; and now that alignment has been selected by City of Arvada, monitoring to ensure mitigation of impacts to equestrian neighborhood is addressed
* keeping public informed of impacts of government plans to return water flows to Leyden Creek and consideration of breaching the Ledyen Lake dam
* requesting City of Arvada and Jefferson County School District to share information about what will be built and how impacts will be mitigated
* requesting Jefferson County Commissioners and other governments to form a Leyden Lake/Reservoir/Creek study committee that involves impacted property owners.
The major project, investigation of incorporation has been put on hold until major property owners in area make decisions about annexation to Arvada. We cannot develop accurate cost figures for new Village until these decisions are made.
