As summer approaches and schools are let out, we need to keep an extra eye on the neighborhood.  Often times juveniles with nothing better to do get into trouble and look for things to do when parents arent around. 

Since reading some of the prior posts its obvious alot of the crime is being committed by juveniles in this area. I experienced this firsthand last year when my daughters bicycles were stolen while we were grocery shopping. Lets keep an eye out for hoodlums and kids hanging out where they dont belong.

We can't say it enough --- keep your cars locked/windows up and your houses secure.The harder they have to work to commit theft, the more likely they are to pass up the opportuity.

Don't leave your garage door open while working in the yard where you can't keep an eye on the garage. Lock the door that connects between the house and garage, too.

Don't leave valuables inside your vhicle, especially not in plain sight. Even change.

Maintain the appearance of someone being home, especially while you are away on vacation. Keep your house/property well lighted. Don't let newspapers/mail collect.

But here's one of the biggest deterrants:

Be seen around your property -- if they see you, they know that there is a chance that you have seen or will see them; that can deter them form making any further moves, or even cause them to leave the neighborhood in search of other opportunities.
