Little Village was built on farmland owned by a Mr. Davidson. His original farmhouse stands on the hill east of our entrance on Vivion Road. Marvin Poole was the developer, and building started in 1946. The first phase of Little Village includes most of the houses south of 50th Street. Poole went into the military in the late 40’s. When he returned home around 1950, he worked toward the completion of the subdivision. Prior to the development of Little Village, the only house in the immediate area- other than the Davidson home and the Summers’ home where Hillside Christian Church stands- was a red brick house on N. Troost, which was built about 1932.
