Palmetto Beach Youth Football & Cheerleading

What are your thoughts about Palmetto Beach & Desoto Park possibly becoming the home for a youth football team & cheerleading squads?

Is this really being considered, and if so, by whom? If this happens, how much traffic will it generate and where will everyone park vehicles? How late will they play, and how much noise will it generate? If the City needs land for this, I suggest they consider acquiring the Kimmins property east of the park, there they would provide access for this from 34th Street. |

It is actually. I am in the process of getting it rolling as we speak. I already have the go ahead from the city to use the park as a practice field and will be meeting with the league soon to finalize the details. We will be affiliated with TBYFL as the Palmetto Beach Chargers.
I think it will be a great constructive activity for these kids.
I will be administrating the organization and coaching a team as well.
I will be happy to sit down and go through the mission statement and explain how this can and will hopefully be a very positive thing for the community.
Also the games will not be held at the park, just the practices which would be for a total of 6 to 8 hours per week. Usually from 6:00 to 8:00. I don't think the traffic will be too big of an issue as long as we provide clear instructions as to how to mitigate potential congestion. Plus most of the kids are local and would likely come and go on foot.
So far Gary Williams at the park is my main sounding board and once I have the legal end sealed up I will be presenting it to the board. |

I think that this is a great idea. Many people complain about children doing mischievous things on the streets. So i feel that this will give them something to do in a constructive way. Why complain about parking and noise. I my self think that if they played games here it would get family's out more to see the games. Instead of looking at the negatives let look at the positive aspect of this. |
