Taken advantage of, abused, intimidated, and threatened at Texaco

Location: Texaco Xpress Lube
Tony Parker, proprietor
12980 Foothill Blvd.
San Fernando, Ca 91342-4928

On Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at approximately 8:00am I requested to have an oil change ($25.95) and tune up ($56.95) performed on my 1988 S10 Chev Blazer because I was having a problem with the vehicle stalling out. I was told that my vehicle would be ready in one hour. After sitting in the waiting area of Texaco Xpress Lube for two and a half hours, I was told that my vehicle needed $730.00 worth of repairs to fix the stalling problem. In addition I would get a $30.00 discount if I agreed to have the service done right away. I agreed, and I was promised that my vehicle would be ready by 3:00pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2000. I returned to Texaco Xpress Lube at approximately 5:30pm. on Tuesday, June 27, 2000. I Then found out that the bill was higher than agreed upon and I paid $836.70. Then I found out that my vehicle was not ready. Tony Parker promised that my vehicle would be ready by 10:00am on Wednesday, June 28, 2000. I called the shop several times on Wednesday, June 28, 2000, and at 3:30pm I was told that my vehicle was ready. When I arrived at the shop on Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at approximately 3:45pm. I was told that I owed an additional $170.00 in repair charges that I was not informed of before the repairs were performed. Without being given an itemized bill, I paid the additional charges and took possession of my vehicle which stalled out approximately 50 feet from Texaco Xpress Lube shop door. I walked back to Texaco Xpress Lube and informed Tony Parker that my vehicle had stalled out and would not start. The Vehicle was pushed back to the shop the Texaco Xpress Lube staff and I requested a refund of $250.00 for some of the parts that were installed on my vehicle to stop the stalling problem and that my old parts be reinstalled. After some discussion Tony Parker agreed. The lead mechanic Eddie pleaded with me to let him have one more day to locate the problem, to which I agreed. I asked Tony (owner) and Eddie (lead mechanic) not to make any more repairs without my permission. Once again, I called the shop several times on Thursday, June 29, 2000 and was told that they were still looking for the problem each time. I stopped by the shop at approximately 4:00pm on Thursday, June 29, 2000, to check on the progress and found out that additional repairs in the amount of $250.00 had been performed on my vehicle without my permission. I was told that my vehicle was in good operating condition. After test driving my vehicle, I was not satisfied with the service and the condition of my vehicle. Plus money was missing from my vehicle for the second time. Also, there was black greasy oil stains on the upholstery, windows and exterior of the vehicle. When I apprised Tony Parker of my dissatisfaction Tony Parker became enraged and verbally attacked me by using profanity and slurs and made a threat of violence of towards me. Tony Parker, Eddie and the other mechanic of Texaco Xpress Lube then ganged up and broke into my vehicle when I refused to give Tony Parker the keys to my vehicle. At this point I was in fear of my personal safety and placed a 911call for police assistance. After ripping my vehicle apart (causing more damages) Tony Parker approached me and said that if I gave him $200.00 he would have his mechanics put my vehicle back together. Out of fear, I agreed hoping that the police would arrive soon. I reported the incident to the Foothill Police Department in person and a PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION REPORT WAS COMPLETED.
I am not sure where to turn for help, but I do know that I can't ignore that kind of abusive behavior. My rights were violated. I was taken advantage of, abused, intimidated, and threatened. Any suggestions or help that you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Christena

Intimidated, Threatened & Abused

Seems you really got jacked around. I
trust you paid by check & have receipts
for all the repairs. I cannot speak for
the organization, but as a neighbor, I
advise you to contact the Bureau of
Automotive Repairs in Sacramento, Ca &
log a complaint. Also contact Bogie at
CBS Channel 4. He may be able to help
you. Take your receipts & cancelled
checks and file a claim in Small Claims
Court. You may recoup some if not all.
By law, you are entitled to an itemized
statement and they have to give you the
parts that were replaced. Good Luck.
