The New Year is a great time for resolutions, and though most of us are thinking about how to shave off those extra ''holiday'' pounds or rein in excessive spending, we would like to offer another item for your reflection. We on the Board of the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association are sending out a loud and (we hope) clear call for your help. In the spring of 2000, a pioneering group of locals launched this organization, stirred by a desire to improve our neighborhood by making it a safer, attractive, and more pleasant place in which to live. And we are proud of our many achievements in two short years, including three ''tree'' grants to enhance the area, a major campaign for historic preservation and beautification, and collaboration with our councilmen on neighborhood improvements?—just to name a few.
But we on the Board cannot sustain the work of the organization on our own. We need each one of you to contribute his or her time, talent, and efforts, whenever or wherever possible. For instance, grab a shovel to support our tree-planting event in March, or share your task-management skills (and elbow grease) to facilitate our garage sale in April.
Maybe you would like to head a committee for safer streets or noise and traffic abatement. Whatever your talents or interests, we can find a slot for you! So, come out, come out, wherever you are!
Do not hold out for a special invitation; we are at the phones, awaiting your call!
