If you are among the many hoping to find somewhere to take your dog to exercise offleash, or if you support the idea in general, I hope you will put your support behind a project that looks like it has a good chance of coming to fruition. The Culver City dog park would be a convenient site for Mar Vista residents as well, and a very dedicated grassroots organization has worked hard to make it a reality. Currently there is support from the Culver City Council, and a site called The Boneyard has been selected. The organization supporting the project has raised 16,000 dollars so far. For information, visit the website at www.culvercitydogpark.org. Thanks.

Culver City Dog Park
Use of the dog parks in Santa Monica is restricted to dogs registered by the Santa Monica Animal Control office (a part of the SM Police Dept.). Will Culver City discriminate against LA pooches? We should have our own official dog park and not have to depend on the good will of other cities. Is there enough space for a dog park at Mar Vista Park? By alex utas |

A dog park would be welcome.
A dog park would serve a good number of Mar Vista residents. It is a good idea for our area that is long overdue. It should be seriously considered by the Park Advisory Board. It would cost much less than a hockey rink that serves far fewer Mar Vista residents than would a dog park. Maintaining a dog park would be less expensive too! By Mar Vista Homeowner |
