''There should also be a certified letter sent out monthly about where OUR money is being spent, as in a itemized statement of where all homeowners association fees are going. I have yet to see where all of this money is going and I feel it is my right to know this information.
For all we know this money is being pocketed.''

I like the idea of receiving certified letters about where all of our money have gone since the beginning! I, too, have thought that our money is being handeled in an erroneous manner. It would be nice to know where it all goes.

unpaid dues

It is in the covenants and restrictions of our neighborhood that allow the board to bring before the homeowners for a vote for a special assessment. This was done at the regular yearly meeting and voted on by the majority of the homeowners. This said and done it is enforceable. It is also stated that the board may use means necessary to collect the dues and assessments, including placing liens and passing the legal cost to the homeowner. I am of course no attornery, this is the way I understand it to be correct as told by our attorney.

Why wasn't a ballet sent to each and every homeowner (if all have a right to vote) that could have been sent back by certified mail to be counted. Some of us are not just sitting on the sidelines critizing but have schedules that will not allow for lengthy meetings and that are doing things around the and for the community that are not seen or heard by all.

Living by the rules!

It is sad that you can spend this much time trying to make yourself look better just because you do not want to pay your dues. You gripe that you do not know when meeting are yet you post responses like this one on the very website that has a calendar with the date, time and location of every meeting held. I am sorry that you did not receive the notice for the annual meeting that was mailed out two times, or did not see the sign that was at the entrance of the neighborhood for 2 weeks. This meeting was early this year and you could attend and vote or vote by proxy. The assessments were voted on and the residents voted to file the suit, you may not agree, but the majority of the neighborhood did. This resulted in the special assessment. The trashing of every issue on this website does not change the issues at hand. It is only fair that all fees and assessments be paid equally by everyone and the few that have not paid will have liens placed on their property as of June 30, 2007. I believe that when on Monday, as stated in your letter, you speak with your attorney you will find that the association is working within legal guidelines.
