Street Flooding

Alan, thanks for your interest in the ditch. We as the board have been diligently working to get the ditch issue resolved. As far as a lack of maintenance, that has been the tone since this subdivision was created. And because of the litigation, we had to be careful of the maintenance issue. I can tell you that the ditch issue should be resolved very soon. It is unfortunate that we got so much rain so quickly. However, even with the ditch cleaned, we may still experience period street flooding.

Thanks for your patience and we hope that you, and others, will get involved with the HOA as the volunteer board cannot perform all the needed tasks by themselves. I encourage you to find your place of interest in the HOA and volunteeer to lead the effort to make your interest better.

As of today there is still water in the streets across Youree. I believe that the water in the streets are not related to the ditch or lack of maintenance. Anytime you have that much rainfall in that short amount of time flooding can occur. If you notice the water stands where it is naturally low. It did run off faster here than other neighborhoods close by. The ditch itself never left its banks.

Street Flooding

It is my understanding that the ditch does not have to overflow for the streets to flood. If water in the ditch reaches a certain level then the storm drains along our streets cannot empty the water into the ditch. Is this correct?
street flooding

You may be correct but that is hard to explain when only some of the street flood and they empty out to the same ditch. I think that it is just that the area that flood are in the areas that are low lying and take longer to run off when we have the torrential rains that we have been having. All low lying streets flood during this kind of rain.
