Does anyone know why those rumble strips are in the median just past the Acapolco entrance? I leave for work that way and other times and they are annoying to me. There is plenty of room before the built up median at the Fern Valley intersection and besides it's graded to where a vehicle can safely drive up onto it. Is this an annoyance to anyone else or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Reduces Lane Departure Crashes
According to several sources, such as this one (http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:0RIwZmPLXZoJ:ncdot.org/doh/preconstruct/traffic/ECHS/groups/docs/lane/rumble.pdf+Median+Rumble+Strips&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us) rumble strips are used to reduce lane departure crashes. So, I suspect the rumble strips in the median just past Acapolco were put in place because there were repeated accidents at that location. Public Works (http://www.louisvilleky.gov/PublicWorks/) may be able to verify this. Or contact Metro Call at 311 to inquire further. Hope this helps |
