On December 16th the Olympic torch will be passing thru Louisville on it's way to Salt Lake City.
As President of the South Louisville Neighborhood Association,I feel we as a community should come together and support this event in the spirit of national pride the best we can. If anyone else feels this way contact me at 634-9266, we are planning a meeting at the end of this week or the first of next week to discuss and set a plan of action in place.

Neighbor ''hood''
As president of your neighborhood association, don't you think you should remember that when you address your area as a ''hood'' that is precisely what you will get ? We can use these terms in jest and in the spirit of slang.
But my friend, careful that you don't adopt the ''if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'' attitude of so many others in our neighborhoods.
I think it is fantastic that the torch is coming through our end of town. Many will gather to see that. It would be a great time to hand out handbills with a community message, perhaps with a valuable coupon attached so it will not become discarded.

Glad you noticed
Glad you noticed my discussion posting. Think that is a excellent idea about the coupon. Should it be fast food or some sort of service. I think Churchill Downs could be interested in this don't you. Write back!

Keep it Simple
The simple approach is always best, think about who will be there. Get a few ideas about who would allow a coupon to go on the handbill or flyer. The message on the handbill could be simple. ''Help Light the way to your Community'' .Enlist any and all neighborhood groups to get involved. List a page full of comunity phone numbers and help resources, something useful. Pappa John's may want to do the coupon.
Churchill should and will want a piece of the pie, but after all they will get a lot of free publicity anyway.
The aldermen have appropriated about 12,500.00 for a media type co. to put this on.
