This past Saturday, our association took part in the larger ''Mayor's Community Wide Clean-Up'' event in which 70 other organizations participated. As a result of this effort, West Saint Catherine Street received a much needed and thorough Spring cleaning.
Sadly, however, our clean-up crew consisted of a paltry few neighbors, together with about a dozen residents from the Talbot House. Given the low turnout on our part, it's patently obvious that the real work of the clean-up was not done by us -- the WSCNA members.
At the very least, I strongly encourage each of us to write a note to those residents of the Talbot House expressing our gratitude for their generosity on our behalf. If not that, then I suggest making a cash contribution to the association toward the purchase of new push brooms, shovels and rakes for the next clean-up.
