I would love to hear the pros and cons of speed bumps in neighborhoods. For example, who maintains them and how often do they require maintainance? Do they really slow people down, or do they just cause people to speed from one to the next? Also, on this subject, although speeding needs to be thwarted, I have to take ownership that I could do a better job keeping my children out of the street. There is a lot of greenspace where they can and should be playing. |

Keelings said: "Sometimes we all get wrapped up in things when we are driving & we tend to be going to fast. " And if one of us says that if we're pulled over, would that qualify us for a warning instead of a ticket? Even so, I rarely see officers or their families driving too fast. And I can appreciate that they don't want to have to "police" their own neighborhood. How would we feel if people expected us to do our work for people in the neighborhood for free in our time off?

Kris, see my comments under "police neighbors". I do think that if they are willing to do so, they could be a big help in getting a neighborhood watch started. Asking anything more would be unfair. I know it gets very old for me when people find out I'm a psychologist and then want to spend the next hour talking about their "issues". We all need time off.
