Busy, Busy, Busy

I truly think that the 4th street members are concerned about our future and would really like to see us grow. Of course, I don't know too much about them, but from what I have seen, they seem really concerned with our needs as youngsters. As far as the issue is about the busy adults, I think it is true for those who made it and got there easily. Those who made it but really had to work for it, understand that young people today need all the help we can get. Especially being African- Americans. It is so hard growing up in this world these days without conforming to those around you. It is hard to be yourself sometimes, and being yourself is the only way you will ever find out your true destiny and what you are to do with yor life. If you work hard enough, you will get what your heart's desire is. Back to those adults who worked hard to get where they are today, they know it is hard and will try to do everything in their power to help those of us who struggle and will try to show much love to all young people, so that one day, they have a chance at making it too.
busy, busy, busy

This is a sad discussion. I feel for young people nowadays because they are thrust right into life with no holds barred. When I was coming up, we were , for the most part protected and sheltered from real life. There are pros and cons on both sides. Sheltering leaves the young vulnerable and unready for the world at large but thrusting them right into it does not give them the opportunity to mature to a level where they are capable of making good decisions. I feel sorry for parents as they try to both protect and shelter at the right time. The world moves very rapidly now, and it will probably get a whole lot worse before it gets better, if it ever does. Meantime. we must simply do the best we can with what we have, as did countless generations before us who struggled with problems that we know little or nothing about. As the French put it, the more things change. the more they stay the same.

Change

''Meaning Change''
The only way we will see youth development is through change. Something has to change.

I don't know what the french were looking at when they said that, obviously they weren't looking at prevention, maybe youth predicuments.

I'm afraid to feel sorry for the youth situation. If I allow myself to feel that way then I pasify the situation. If I look at it for what it is, then I can get closer to understanding just what is needed to effect the problem.

I think you've taken the first right step Liz, one must actually care before a truly effective solution can be implemented. Then the solutions must keep coming.

Peace,
In the mighty power of Love

Progress?

Ah, progress! How little you know! It's evident you are not a student of history and have not lived many years. If you were and had, you wold recognize the kernel of truth in the French saying. The technology has changed, but the human condition remains basically the same. Have you not read Shakespeare, the Old Testament, War and Peace or 1984? What is progress but a change in technology? It is gradually becoming an obsolete word, or hadn't you heard?
