Disgusted with the tree vote

We, too, are disheartened by the hasty decision of the council regarding the extreme measures voted upon re: the Beechwood Rd. tree line. The lack of discussion with your constituents on both the removal of the trees and the expenditure of our tax dollars shows a total disregard for the people you represent. Such drastic action could irreparably alter the character of the neighborhood which prides itself on its beautification efforts. We would like the council to review this vote at their next meeting after having informed the citizens of the entire city. We would also ask they consider the ethics of a vote taken where one councilperson can ramrod a decision through which obviously benefits that councilperson. Finally, we would like to see a firm accounting both of the cost of the tree removal, and of the plans for replacement. ''PROBABLY'' a cost of $20,000 for this plan would better be defined by the word ''ASSUME'', and you know where that leaves you and me.

Beechwood Road Project

The trees along Beechwood Road have been a council meeting discussion for over four months. While it may appear a hasty decision, many discussions, site review and research has taken place. Be sure that the council vote to approve the project for not to exceed $20,000 does not mean that a ''complete'' plan has been developed, nor that work will proceed without having one. This has been my stand from the beginning.
Since we now have the attention of our constituents on the matter, committee meetings will begin. The first one will be this Saturday 2:30 PM at the city hall. Thanks for the feedback.
