Halloween

Many parents with children might be interested in Halloween for their children? I was wondering what time children can go out to trick or treat I know they have set a certain time.

Thank You,

Trick or Treating

Here are a few Halloween safety tips, compliments of Kosair Children's Hospital:

Young children should always be accompanied by an adult and never out of sight.

Masks can block vision. Be sure eye holes are large enough to allow plenty of peripheral vision. Avoid loose-fitting masks.

Trick-or-treaters should carry a flashlight, wear reflective tape or wear light-colored costumes.

Avoid having children wear adult shoes, especially high heels.

Do not allow children to carry knives, swords or other props unless they are soft and flexible. Anything they carry could hurt them if they fall.

Warn children not to cut across yards where they can trip over lawn ornaments or run into clotheslines that are invisible in the dark.

Only visit homes that have the porch light on. NEVER go inside a stranger?’s house.

Stay away from open fires and candles.

Make sure children bring all treats home before eating them. Parents should check treats to ensure they have not been tampered with and are safely sealed. Be especially careful with fruit -- cut it open before it's eaten. Get rid of choking hazards, such as gum, peanuts, hard candies and small toys.

Trick-Or-Treat Hours:
There are no hard-and-fast rules for what time to start taking your children trick-or-treating. As a general rule, however, the fun usually starts around 5:30 or 6 p.m. and ends around 9 p.m.
