A Case for Our Ethics Board

I too have had past questions regarding the Ritz's ''gift'' of Discount Cards mailed August 28th 2006 to the residents of Woodlawn Park, conveniently timed with the City Council Election of November, 2006. This most current ''gift'' of a flag, with a gentle reminder of their position as ''your neighborhood real estate professionals'' raises some concern with me. I think it quite possibly is a matter for our Ethics Board to look into regarding Woodlawn Park's Ethics Ordinance #3-1994, specifically section Section 5 Standards of Conduct (B), ''No officer or employee shall intentionally use or attempt to use his or her official position with the city to secure unwarranted priviledges or advantages for himself or herself or others.''

Unfortunately, this kind of behavior, left uncorrected and tolerated as of yet, will continue until someone checks it.

Your interest is well-founded.

Thanks For The Flag!

I also wondered where the flag came from, until i saw the card attached. It is very thoughtful this time of year to know some one else is patriotic also. I know they were trying to remind everyone of their position if needed. But there is no harm in that. It is plain and simple if you don't want it, throw it away or you can stand by your country and show your patriotism.
My personal thoughts on this matter is i would rather get a flag as a gift to find out in the yard than a pile of crap left from of our neighbors dogs.
So carry on The Ritz'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Fourth of July to you too!!!!

Feeling left out

All the talk about the flags makes me feel left out. I didn't receive a patriotic flag like the rest of the neighborhood. I live on Beechwood Road. In fact, none of my neighbors received one either. I don't get it??

I really did think this would generate more discussion than it has. Not the hot topic I suspected it to be.

Of myself and my neighbors, a few liked the flags, a few felt they were invasive, and a few didn't care one way or the other.

However, when it was discovered and discussed that Becky Ritz is on the city council and that Bill Ritz is the Chair of the Code Enforcement Board (I need to visit other parts of this website), everyone I've talked to seems to believe there are serious ethical problems here. Or is there just something we're not understanding?
I am open to correction here if anyone knows something.

Also I am now keenly interested in if there was a solicitation permit or some other type permit granted, and if so, who granted it? Regretably I have experienced considerable stonewalling from the mayor/council in the past and am skeptical what I will be able to find out.

Am I just stirring up trouble and need to just keep my mouth shut? Are these legitmate concerns? I'm willing to drop the whole thing if I'm being some kind of jerk here or something. Let me know what you think.
