Proposed Management District

Posted in: Central Park West
Read the Courier-Journal article dated 08/24/05 with great interest, and did obtain a few details.

Did want to note: that C-J stated the residents were unaware of the proposed district. An inaccurate statement since neighborhood representatives did provide information received at the Old Louisville Council Meeting to their local associations.

Also no projected cost was mentioned in the C-J article. This information is available for reading in the July, 2005 CPW minutes.

Ideally, I would prefer to see our city governments utilize current revenues to increase security and street cleanings. If unattainable, management districts are a successful means of providing what the city cannot.

However with the advent of the Metro area, we are continually advised the revenues available are less because the servicing area is larger. However, I do question the continuance of a city tax applying only to those within the ''city boundaries'' - when indeed we are a ''metro'' area. If additional revenues are needed, equal taxation to the entire metro area appears a logical conclusion. Or remove the ''city tax'' so individuals within ''city neighborhoods'' may redirect these dollars toward the establishment of management districts.
