Hello all,

I guess it is illegal to park on the street in our city? I was not aware of this and had a ticket on my wife's car this morning for parking on the street for longer than 4 hours.

I'm not sure what to do now. We are building a deck (yes, in December!), and so we don't have full use of our driveway and garage, as it's covered in lumber. As a result, we've been having to put one car on the street at night, but if this is illegal, I guess we'll have to figure something else out.

Parking Ordinance

The Graymoor-Devondale parking ordinance (Title VII, 72.01-G)does not allow for parking ''any vehicle on a public way for a period in excess of four hours.'' There are several exceptions: deliveries, moving vans, etc.

The ordinance allows for other exceptions (Title VII, 72.06-A to C). Please contact the Chief of Police (643-0691) to apply for a permit and explain the circumstances of your construction project.

I've sent you an e-mail, and I'll be glad to discuss this matter with you if you contact me (426-2681).
