I think that our cheif, DJ, is doing a great job!
Did you know that having our own force saves the city about $20,000 per year?
I found this out at the council meeting where the budget was discussed. This is a public meeting, and these are your tax dollars.
My understanding is that the conduct of our current Mayor is that we would be better off with Metro police coverage. Does that mean we have less protection, or will our taxes have to increase?
The next meeting is May 14th!

Importance of S.V. Police Dept.

I am writing to discuss the importance of Strathmoor Village Police Dept. and Chief Reynolds. Chief Reynolds not only is a fine and responsible officer he is also an asset to our community. He is always willing to assist our citizens whether it is helping set-up for picnic or just be visible at yard sale time letting outsiders know we have extra security. More importantly he responds immediately when he is paged.
Recently I had an occasion to contact Metro police regard a matter and my call was not returned until several days after I called. Also with Chief Reynolds we can always contact him if we are going to be out of town and he will provide an extra watch on our home. I also feel that with Chief Reynolds' experience, he is very capable of running his department on his own and providing a monthly report at the Board Meeting. Lets keep Community in our Village we don't need Metro Police.
Mayor's input

I will be proposing a survey for all of our residents with the facts surrounding our police coverage. Hopefully the resident's can decide if our police dept. should be maintained. Yes, I have my thoughts, but where are you getting your ''understandings'' We are paying double coverage, as we are covered by Metro police, albeit without the personal touch of our SVPD. There are pluses to both sides. Mayor Bell

Inaccuracies or politics?

Double coverage is baloney. Incorporated areas of Metro pay higher taxes which include garbage and police. As a resident, I'm very happy with Waste Management and our Strathmoor Police.
