Reckless driving

The speed humps have been very successful in slowing down most of the traffic on North Chadwick.  However, some drivers, especially those driving SUVs, are creating a potentially dangerous situation by accelerating well above the posted speed limit and "jumping" the humps.

All it would take is a slight error and their vehicle could wind up in one of our houses.  I saw one SUV "jump the hump" at the same time as three children were riding bikes on the street near the hump in front of 109.

Day in and day out, I have noticed that some Papa John's Pizza and Pizza Hut delivery drivers speed over the humps.  A bright yellow Hummer with a Subway sign and phone number in the rear side window speeds over the humps also.  I have called all three business to complain and have assured them that as long as that happens that I will not make any purchases from those particular stores.

Also, LMPD has stated that they shall periodically monitor the speed on North Chadwick.

That is a very good way to handle that problem.  I too will alert the police and ask for more attention from them.

As the weather got better the speeding on North Chadwick got worse.  Once again, LMPD for responded quickly and posted officers on the street at various times to enforce the speed limit.   Thanks LMPD for doing that and for having Officer Riley knock on my door to let us know what you were doing.

Papa John's on Hurstbourne across from the end of Whittington, please ask your drivers to respect out neighborhood and slow down.  It appears that the Pizza Hut drivers are observing the speed limit.

Folks, government really does care, but they are not mind readers.  When we have a problem, we must make sure they are aware that there is a problem.  "Bad government happens when good people do not get involved."
