The McKinley, East Sacramento Neighborhood Association (MENA) was formed in 1992 as a volunteer organization to give East Sacramento residents a greater say in the issues that affect our community.
Today, with hundreds of members, MENA is one of the city's most respected and effective neighborhood associations.
-Raised $5,000 for Theodore Judah computer lab
-Raised $2,000 for Sutter Middle School beautification project
-Raised $28,000 for the McKinley Park Village Playground in 1994
-Raised thousands of dollars and recruited hundreds of neighborhood volunteers to repaint Phoebe Hearst Elementary School in 1996
-Collected thousands of toys for underprivileged children
-Stocked the McKinley Park duck pond with thousands of fish
-Donated 50 Lavender plants for the front of the McKinley park rose garden
-Sponsored community Home and Garden Tours in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2007, 2009
-Sponsored a garden Award in 1996 and 1998
-Established a Commemorative Rose Garden in front of the Clunie Community Center in 1994
-Established a new McKinley Park rose garden on 33rd Street
-Sponsored East Sacramento's first annual Residential Architectural Awards in 2001
-Designed and landscaped the "Welcome to East Sacramento" sign at Alhambra and H Street.
