President?’s message

Winding down after one of MENA?’s busiest times of the year, I am so thankful to our wonderful board, membership and countless volunteers who donated several hours of their time to make several of our recent events a huge success. Like last year MENA was proud to be the only neighborhood association in Sacramento to be a sponsor of the American River Clean-up to help preserve and protect the American River. More than 4,400 bags of debris were removed this year, a feat the county could never consider funding the manpower to accomplish. MENA plans to continue our support of this event and hopes to see you along the river at a future clean-up date.
In yet another example of the seemingly endless quality of MENA members the home tour was a huge success. Over 75 volunteers helped out in this annual event, from being ticket sellers, docents, writers, house captains, making deliveries and countless other roles. Also our homeowners deserve a huge thank you for allowing MENA the use of their homes, since without them, this annual tour would not even be possible. Thank you all.
It is my fervent hope that MENA members will continue to take an active interest in our lovely community by stepping forward to volunteer or go to the next level and serve on the MENA Board of Directors and committees. Each board member takes responsibility for an area of importance to our community. Committees currently active are Parks and Playground, Newsletter, Land-Use, Membership and our newest committee, Neighborhood Safety and Impacts.
I am greatly thankful for all the members who have volunteered their time and skills to make East Sacramento one of the best places to live and to really enjoy life. As always, please send us your feedback, ideas, comments and concerns. We?’d love to hear from you!
