MENA MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL UPDATE

Like the American River, membership in MENA has its ebbs and flows. The high watermark usually occurs after a successful neighborhood event like last April?’s ?“East Sac Day?” that prompts people to join and participate in our neighborhood association. However, membership levels also recede just like the tide.

A membership renewal reminder was enclosed in the previous newsletter and response was approximately 33%. Since that notice was issued, however, several new members have joined after learning about MENA?’s joint sponsorship of the recent candidates forum held in February at the McKinley Library.



MENA?’s current membership overwhelmingly consists of homeowner occupied households (93%). Individuals that identify themselves as ?“seniors?” make up approximately 33 percent of our membership.



The most gratifying outcome of the recent renewal drive is that 21% of MENA?’s renewing members included a donation besides their dues payment. The contributions ranged from $5 to $100. The total donations were $420 with the average being almost $20.



Several members also took the opportunity to comment and included messages like ?“Thanks for all your work for our neighborhood?” to ?“I love MENA.?”

Thanks to all of you who have renewed your membership. If you have not done so, please remember that a neighborhood association?’s strength is in numbers and your commitment is vital to MENA?’s success. If you know a neighbor who is not a member of MENA, please extend a invitation to join us.
