What a busy and fun time for MENA right now with all of the activities and events coming up in the next couple of months. As you will read in this newsletter MENA is busy at work on another great Home Tour, McKinley Park Playground Celebration Day, and the Great American River Clean ?–Up. All projects which involve countless hours of work and commitment, by our wonderfully devoted Board Members and Volunteers.
On Saturday September 11th, MENA is a sponsor of the first annual H Street Festival, which is being planned to celebrate the culture and Diversity of California?’s Arts. The Festival will be held at Central United Methodist Church at 53rd and H Street from 10am to 5pm. It is sure to be a fun time with many performers and exhibitors on hand. MENA will also be staffing a table so please stop by and say hello.
In other news, at MENA?’s August Board meeting, City Staff in the Parking Facilities Division presented proposed parking fee modifications to residential parking permit holders. The meeting notice was sent out to all city residents and the room was packed. Nearly all of the residents in attendance were strongly opposed to any fee increases being imposed on residential permit holders, with many people citing frustrations with current enforcement and permit use. This issue affects many East Sacramento residents. Make sure to let your voice be heard on this issue by contacting your City Council Member,
City staff, and the Mayor. The Parking Division is scheduled to present the fee proposal to the City Council on September 28th.
Most importantly, as a MENA member, if you ever have any ideas, concerns, or if you would like to get involved and volunteer in YOUR neighborhood organization please let us know. You can reach me personally by email at rynsac@surewest.net or by phone at 447-4622.
Our local neighborhood group is only as strong and as great as we all make it. Get involved today!
