Plan now to join us for MENA?’s biggest annual event ?— the Home Remodeling Tour.
On September 26, from 10 AM to 5 PM, owners of six recently completed houses will allow ticket holders to peek at their creations.
Featured houses include:
?· A new, elegant, Italiante construction, designed in scale and period to complement its neighbors, combines historic and contemporary design.
?· A remodeled Arts and Crafts bungalow, updated throughout and expanded with the addition of a full basement.
?· A two story Tudor, repaired, enlarged and complemented by a garage and loft apartment.
?· A single story Tudor renovation with addition of a new family room and master suite.
?· A two bedroom cottage, renovated, updated and refinished to provide a modern kitchen and entertainment center.
?· The rescue from an earlier remodel of a 1925 Tudor that adds space and function while preserving the original streetscape.
The Home Remodeling Tour is the biggest project undertaken by MENA each year. With the purpose of highlighting excellence in design and construction while demonstrating sensitivity to place, this Tour provides an opportunity for neighbors and visitors to experience how others have adapted unused space, created new rooms, and realized artistic dreams while making their homes more functional.
Proceeds from the Tour provide resources for MENA initiatives. Last year?’s proceeds, complemented with those generated this year, will help fund new lights for McKinley Park along the currently dark stretch on McKinley Boulevard. Other uses include such things as MENA?’s contribution to the beautification project for David Lubin Elementary School, the Smell the Roses Day, the upcoming H Street Festival and other worthy community endeavors.
MENA offers its sincere thank you to the homeowners who generously open their homes to thousands of visitors as well as the volunteer docents who assist in the tour and businesses who facilitate ticket sales.
