Childrens’ Writing Contest – Entries due September 24

Do your children have a favorite memory of childhood fun at the McKinley Park playground? Well, have them pull out pencils and paper and tell us about it. The McKinley Elvas Neighborhood Alliance together with the Friends of the McKinley Library are sponsoring a writing and art contest to capture memories of childhood fun at McKinley playground.



The contest coincides with MENA?’s celebration of the playground?’s tenth anniversary scheduled for Saturday October 9th.



The writing and art contest is open to all children. Children up to 3rd grade can submit artwork along with a brief narrative about their favorite feature of the playground. Students in grades 4 to 6 must write a story of 300 words or less about the same topic. Older youngsters up to age 13 can submit a composition of 300 words or less describing their fondest memory or experience at the playground.



All entries must be submitted on a sheet of 8 ?½ by 11 inch paper no later than Friday, September 24. The art and essays can be delivered to the McKinley Library, or mailed to MENA at P.O. Box 160222, Sacramento 95816.



Contestants will be judged on originality and creative expression. Prizes will be awarded for each category at the 10th Anniversary Party on October 9th.
