Are you one of those people who immediately heads for the McKinley Playground with your kids in tow the minute the sun starts to peak out from behind those dark rain clouds? Well if that's the case, here's your chance to help keep the playground a great place for kids of all ages.
The McKinley East Sacramento Neighborhood Association, in cooperation with the City of Sacramento and the Kiwanis Club of East Sacramento, is working to coordinate a community-led workday to spruce up the playground.
The goals of the workday will be to add some "shine" to the aging playground with a little paint, some new wood chips, some minor repairs, and a lot of hard work.
At this point, a specific date has not been chosen. However, we anticipate it will be early on a Saturday morning (to beat the heat). We will be advertising with flyers at the playground itself, in the Clunie Library, and about town. So please keep your eye out for more information.
If you're interested in volunteering on the actual day or in planning for the event, please email Rich Ciraulo at MENA@eastsac.org to be added to the mailing list. We look forward to seeing you out on the workday and don't forget to bring your work gloves!
