The MENA Home Remodeling Tour Committee is still accepting nominations for entry for the Sunday, September 24 tour. Proceeds from the tour fund community projects that enhance the beauty and livability of East Sacramento. Homeowners who have just completed, or expect to complete their remodel on time for the late September tour, are invited to offer their home for the annual fundraiser. Six homes will be chosen for the tour.
"We are fortunate to have so many well-done remodels right here in our neighborhood. Opening your remodeled home to the public, as we did, inspires others and helps them to visualize what improvements might be
done to their home," stated Claudia Bordin and Kurt Campbell.
Polly Sanders, MENA home recruitment chair, said response from the first call for entries has been tremendous.
"We have provided information packets to nearly twenty interested parties, but nominations are still open and we encourage anyone who has remodeled to receive information," added Sanders. "If it turns out that your project will not be completed on time for the 2006 Tour, we will put you on the list for next year's tour."
"This is the biggest fundraising project we undertake each year," said Rian Troth, MENA president. "The homes offer ideas and inspiration on how East Sac homeowners have built, updated, upgraded, enlarged or converted their spaces to suite changes in needs, family size and lifestyle."
Proceeds from past MENA tours have funded new lights for McKinley Park along a previously dark stretch, upgraded the "Welcome To East Sacramento sign garden, support for the American River Clean Up, McKinley Library book purchases and more.
"None of these projects would have been completed on such a timely basis without the MENA support," commented Cecily Hastings, resident and past chair of the tour event.
