MENA?’s Nominating Committee called for Nominations in the January 2003 Neighborhood News. Based on nominations received in response to that call, the Nominating Committee recommends the 11 candidates below for 2003-2004 MENA Board of Directors.
NOMINEE THUMBNAIL BIOS
Chris Haney ?— civic interests include smart growth, in-fill development, and local business health, while keeping an eye on the protection of the serenity of the neighborhood.
Polly Sanders ?— a promoter of East Sacramento as one of the best places in the Sacramento region to live. Polly is a realtor with Coldwell Banker.
Kerry Phillips ?— co-founder of the Sacramento Bungalow Heritage Association. Kerry also writes a column for Inside East Sacramento called Home Matters on neighborhood architecture and home remodeling.
Cecily Hastings ?— co-founder of MENA in 1992 and publishes Inside East Sacramento. Has been the driving force behind dozens of community improvement projects.
Howard Schmidt, ?— interested in land use. An attorney (with a masters?’ in public administration) whose professional background has included working for the California Legislature and holding positions on the County and Federal levels.
Michael Greene ?— has a special focus on community development ?— the bringing of people together to define and enhance their environment.
Ken Ives ?— interested in residential housing issues and conditions and concerns regarding our local parks.
Charlie Klein ?— interested in protecting the health and happiness of the people, animals, and plants in our neighborhood. Also interested in promoting bicycle usage, traffic control, and better public transportation.
Charles Moore ?— has represented MENA on multiple community boards, agencies AND PROJECTS for the past 8 years including the M Street corridor project, the CSUS bicycle/pedestrian Access Project, Sutter?’s Landing Park, and number of other projects.
Rian Troth ?— goals are to protect and preserve our neighborhood, as well as make it an even greater place to live and enjoy life.
Victoria Pettaway ?— formerly chief of public affairs at McClellan AFB, holds a MS in school counseling. Victoria is interested in preserving the beauty and heritage of the community as well as promoting change for improvement.
