Is there anything we can do regarding satellite dishes in front yards? In recent months, I've noticed two satellite dishes placed in the front yard! I'm concerned about these being in the front yard mainly because it definitely affects our neighborhood's image and it is so ugly to look at.

I will investigate with the City

I just thought the same thing with all those up on Tyvola in front of York Towne just a couple of weeks ago. When I get a response I will post on unde this topic.

(9) Satellite dishes and towers, subject to regulations of subsection 9.605



(4) Satellite dishes and towers. Satellite dishes and towers are permitted as an accessory use provided that:
(a) They are a necessary part of a permitted use utilizing such equipment as part of its normal operation;
(b) Such dishes and towers may not be located within the setback area of any lot or within the street side yard of a corner lot; and
(c) Screening shall be installed on the exterior sides of such dishes and towers in accordance with section 12.303. If walls are chosen for this screening, materials must be compatible with the exterior of other buildings on the site.

I have not heard back from the City on this topic. It appears that they cannot be in front yards or side yards of corner lots.

Once I confirm this info I will post it on the site and who handles enforcement if indeed it is a violation.

I am not sure if the above is just commercial or applies to both commerical use and residential use. If indeed residential then I can think of a few violations to add to the ones that you have pointed out!
