This was a message sent by a neighbor on OBISPO:

Could you please ask around and see if any other people in the Neighborhood are having problems with Woodpeckers? They are literally destroying the 2nd story of the North side of our house. We have tried everything and have had to climb dangerously high and cover the holes they are making with metal sheets because if they make it into the crawl space we will never get rid of them.

We have called everywhere trying to get help, but they are protected both Federally and by the State. It is illegal to hurt them in any way. The
Department of Game and Fish will come out for $80.00 an hour and trap them
with mouse traps! It could cost a fortune if it takes days!

Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem.

Another Woodpecker!

We too have a Woodpecker. We hear it thru our fireplace. We haven't crawled up there yet to see if there is any damage, but if you get any suggestions for a cure, please pass it along. Thanks! Jessica

Remedy?

Aren't woodpeckers scared off by those fake owls? I know they are supposed to scare off some type of bird, but I don't remember which one. Hope that helps

Remedy 2

I asked my Mom who had a similar problem years ago and she used tanglefoot spray...it's a clear sticky spray that you can use anyplace. The birds and other critters don't like sticky feet. It worked for her. It would be worth a try and wouldn't put any more holes in the house.
