The Marlborough Mesa Focus Group 2000 met Tuesday night, 3/21/00, at Nello's
Pizza. Nine people attended and great ideas were shared. The group decided
that a raffle with several substantial prizes was the best way to raise the
monies needed for the remaining two signs. Members of the group are going
to approach local businesses for prizes.
The Focus Group also decided to schedule our next neighborhood party. The
raffle drawing will be held at the neighborhood party. The date selected is
Saturday, May 20
We still need your help!
If you have a contact with a local business that would like to donate cash
for the raffle or a prize please let me know.
The Focus Group plans another meeting Tuesday, April 4th, from 5:00 - 6:00
P.M. at Nello's pizza. We would love to have more people there!
Ideas or thoughts? Just e-mail me and we can discuss them.
A special thanks to Nello's pizza for their hospitality and 20% discount on
our purchases that evening.
Respectively submitted,

Focus Update April 8th
Focus Group 2000 Update
Apr 8, 2000
Marlborough Residents, The second Marlborough Mesa Focus Group met Tuesday
night, April 4th at Nello''s Pizza. Nine Marlborough Mesa neighbors met to discuss methods to raise funds to pay for the second and third signs. The group decided that a 50/50 raffle should be held. This fundraiser functions in the following manner: Tickets will be sold for $1 each or 7 for $5. Interested parties within our community who wish to sell tickets may do so. Funds raised will be split evenly between the winner and the Marlborough Mesa neighborhood sign collection. For example, if we raise $1,000.00 the winner of the raffle will receive $500.00 and the sign fund will receive $500.00. The raffle drawing will be held at the neighborhood get together on May 20th. The get together will be called "Pig out at the Park" and will be an evening (6:00 pm - ?) desert potluck held at the park. It will be easy, fun, and we know profitable. Cecil Duarte has volunteered to be the ticket director. A flier and tickets will be distributed to individuals within the next week.
We also plan to do a silent auction at the "Pig out at the Park". If you wish to donate something please call me at 480-839-6006 or email me at larryc@asu.uswest.net. A Razor Scooter, Diamondback and Cardinal Tickets, Gift Certificates, huge bottle of wine
and t-shirts have already been donated. If you own a business, here is your chance to let your neighborhood know. Contacts ... contacts ... contacts ... who do you know who owns a business? Nancy Borg has collected all articles about the neighborhood to assist anyone in soliciting businesses for donations or your own place of business.
When we take it all together compiled, it is an impressive achievement for a neighborhood of our size with no homeowners association. You may have one of these packets from Nancy -- just email her at AZCAT21877@aol.com. The next Focus Group is coming up quickly as we have plans to make and tickets to sell. The next group will be held: Monday, April 10th, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm at Rosita''s on the southwest corner of Dobson and Guadalupe. We encourage anyone interested in our group to attend, as this is open forum. Thank you and we will see you on the 10th. Respectfully submitted,
Becky Claycomb

Focus Group Update - May 3rd
May 3, 2000
The Focus Group 2000 met Tuesday night, April 25th, at Rosita'sMexican Restaurant.
Several new neighbors attended but we missed a few familiar faces. All shared in good discussion and I believe Bill Nichols will be able to secure a Fire Engine for the May 20 "Pig Out at the Park". Our children should enjoy this. Ticket sales are going very well.
About 4,000 tickets have been distributed and individuals are selling in the neighborhood and to their friends and co-workers. Cecil is keeping track of tickets that have been distributed. Ginger, our volunteer treasurer, reported that the bank account has enough money now for the second sign. The group feels strongly that we will generate enough money for the third sign and, hopefully, the fourth! The Silent Auction continues to grow.
Items that have been donated are a scooter, multiple packs of tickets to ball games, gift certificates, Victoria Secrets, etc. I have started another discussion about this. If you (or
perhaps the company you work for) would like to donate item(s) for the Silent Auction please give me a call at 480-839-6006 or email me at larryc@asu.uswest.net. I will be
keeping the Auction items at my home. Would you like to join our group? We would love to have you! Our next meeting will be Tuesday, May 9th, from 6:30-7:30 PM at Rosita's, the southwest corner of Guadalupe and Dobson.
Respectfully,
Becky Claycomb
