Silent Auction Getting Closer
The Focus Group met Tuesday night at Rosita's Restaurant. A new participant joined us, Kevin Biesty (Peralta), and he was welcomed by all. This was a large, productive meeting (12 in attendance) and we were appreciative of all who could come.
Cecil reported that 5,377 tickets are out for sale. Hopes are high that the raffle will be around $3,000.00; that would mean that the sign fund would receive $1,500.00 and a lucky winner would receive $1,500.00. Group members and others plan to hit the neighborhood with fliers about the ?“Pig out at the
Park?” dessert picnic, Silent Auction and 50/50 Raffle drawing. This will encourage people to buy tickets as well as participate in the raffle.
Kevin Biesty volunteered to contact the City of Mesa and find out if the DARE police vehicle and/or a Mesa fire truck can attend the Park function. It is hoped that former Phoenix City Councilman and Congressional Candidate Sal Diciccio will attend our Park function. He has heard about the great things that the neighborhood has done and wants to meet us.
Silent Auction - more prizes are coming in. In hand we have:
Pampered Chef pizza stone
Victoria Secret lotion collection in a hatbox
Razor Scooter
4 Diamondback tickets for June 10, 2000 with parking pass (vs San Diego Padres)
Dinner for 2 at the Quail Run Restaurant
2 twenty dollar gift certificates to IHOP (are we going to use these for deserts? Maybe?)
1 free lawn service (mow, edge, blow, wire trimming)
1 shampoo, cut, and style at Hair Candy Salon
Other prizes have been promised and are coming!
Park preparation:
Bill is getting a sound system to use that night.
Becky is going to get paper plates, napkins, forks, spoons, etc. donated
Tables are going to be brought by Elaine, Becky, Renee, Cecil. We need more. We also need lawn chairs.
Volunteers for the auction tables: Becky, Jim, Jimmie, Elaine,
Volunteers for ticket sales the night of the picnic: Cecil
We need more volunteers! Renee is going to man a table to get people to sign up for the neighborhood web site and get involved in the singles group.
We will hold the Silent Auction from 6-8 and pull the winning raffle ticket at 8:30. We will be selling tickets right up until the last minute.
The Focus Group plans to meet Thursday night, May 18th, at Cecil's house, 2924 S. Wycliff to count tickets and money and prepare auction sheets. All monies and tickets collected to that point need to be brought in no later than the 18th. That will give us a good idea of where we are in sales. Becky and Renee will finish the auction sheets for Saturday night, May 20.
Respectfully Submitted,
Becky Claycomb
